A Warm Welcome to Paula Mosher Wallace   Paula will give away a print book and a t-shirt. To enter to win leave a comment and an e-mail address below. (U.S. residents only)                 About Bloom in the Dark Have you ever experienced a hurt that didn't qualify for a sympathy card? Did embarrassment or shame keep you from getting help or support? Do you have a loved one who's been abused? Many women face trauma and abuse. In these pages, you will read 30 stories, poems, and letters that tell these testimonies. Without sugarcoating her situation, each woman shares her pain, how she made it through, and how God met her. Our journeys to healing are different. Your story may not be reflected in the pages of this book, but you will see that you are not alone. We can all reach out to the same God who helped each of these women. Christ will meet you, carry you, hold you, and heal you, too! Warning: best when read with tissues

Looking Out the Window: Lillian Duncan Shares an Inspirational Devotional about the Dark Alleys of our Lives and Talks about Her New Book, Dark Alleys

Lillian will give away an e-book. To enter to win leave a comment and your email address. FINDING YOUR WAY OUT OF A DARK ALLEY James 4: 8 Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. We humans are not necessarily the smartest of God’s creations even though we think we are! We seem to go out of our way to hurt ourselves in so many different creative ways. At one time or another most of us end up in a dark alley of our own making through our own bad choices and actions. And sometimes other people put us in those alleys or at least lead the way. It always seems so dark and so lonely there, but God never abandons us—it only feels that way sometimes. And that’s what I want readers to take away after reading DARK ALLEYS . No matter what we’ve done, God never stops loving us. He is always there waiting for us to ask for His help. In James 4: 8 it says, Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you." To me that means, God is always there waiting for us to come to HIM

Looking Out the Window: Meet Zeke Lam

Zeke Lam talks about his new book, SUBMISSION , and Submission Ministries. His ministry has led him all over the world. Welcome Zeke. First, tell us About Submissioin Ministries. This ministry exists simply to spread the love of Jesus Christ to the world. Our first book, titled SUBMISSION, released in mid November. As a “new” organization it is our goal to partner with other Christian ministries worldwide and allow the Holy Spirit to use us in whatever fashion will bring Him the most glory. Thanks for introducing us to your ministry. Tell us a little about yourself. I am 27 years old and have been married to my beautiful wife, Kathleen, for 6 years. We have three children (4, 2, and 2 months) that we love very much. I have been a minister since the age of 18 as a youth minister and evangelist. In addition to this, I operate a small business which constructs ornamental concrete such as flower pots, bird baths, etc. My family and I are passionate to see Christ glorified through our

Looking Out the Window: Nike Chillemi Talks about Finding Protection and Peace in Dangerous Times

Protection in Dangerous Times Psalm 91: 1-2 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust !" The 1940s, the time-period BURNING HEARTS is set in, were dangerous times. World War II had ended and the Cold War and a great global arms race was beginning. Today we're living in dangerous times, an era of global terrorism. We all have a desire to protect those we love. We face this every time we, or someone we love, goes off to work in the morning. Our streets today are not as safe as they once were. It's a reality for us when our children go off to school, or our teens get into a car with their friends. Yet, we have an all-powerful and loving God, who's desire for us is the best, not the worst. He is our refuge and our fortress. In Him we shall trust. But this doesn't make God into a Santa Claus up in the sky to whom we shoot off a

Not just one, actually. Four. The 2004 Hurricane Season is one most Floridians will long remember. In August, Hurricane Charley swept around the eastern coastline, encircling the state, and threatening to hit the west coastline. Instead, on Friday morning August 13, 2004, Charley took a turn toward Port Charlotte near the Southern tip

Looking Out the Window: Christine Lindsay's Shadowed in Silk and the Story of Priat, the Secret Princess

Christine will be giving away a download of her new book, Shadowed in Silk . To enter to win leave a comment with an email address. SECRET PRINCESS India’s evening air caresses like warm silk. A small mountain of kid-sized sandals sits close to a wooden beam holding up the makeshift roof. Voices of hundreds of children fill this tiny Christian church in the center of the bustling city in the south of India. The children sit on rugs, thick blankets, and bamboo matting on a floor of deep, clean sand. Counselors and specially chosen kids from the congregation lead in dance sequences. The Indian style music, heavy with the beat of tom toms, and each willow-like hand gesture and foot movement holds traces of ancient India. It was at a camp setting like this one that a young girl by the name of Priat first heard about Jesus Christ. Like many of the children in this camp setting, Priat came from a low-caste Indian family, the Dalits. In years past this group of p

Looking Out the Window: The Peaceful Writing of Eileen Rife

DEVOTIONAL AND BOOK GIVEAWAY Excerpt from TRANQUIL MOMENTS, SPIRITUAL REFRESHMENT FROM the ISLAND OF MAUI by Eileen Rife Son Blockers “Make Your face to shine upon Your servant; Save me in Your loving kindness.” –Psalm 31:16 Sitting on the sand outside our motel in LaHaina, I apply more sunscreen, smoothing it over my arms and legs, covering every exposed area to block the sun’s harmful UV rays. I want the glorious benefits of the sun’s warmth and light, but I realize, in this marred world that too much exposure may come with a price: detriment to long-term health. Indeed, the tainted earth and heavens groan with longing for their redemption, freedom from the effects of sin, just as I long for release from this imperfect body in which I dwell. A curse fell on the world like a wet blanket, snuffing out the laughter and joy at God’s creation party. And so we both wait—creation and I—for the final, freeing touch of the Son’s hand. In the meantime, I want nothing to block Him from my view.

I'll draw a name and announce a winner on Monday, February 7th. UNWRAPPED HEARTS Don’t you love those bright, beribboned heart boxes of candy that appear in the stores in February? You hope against common-sense hope (how many calories in those sweets?? Oh my…!) that maybe you will be one of the lucky recipients this year. But imagine receiving such a heartfelt gift from someone you love…only to discover that someone had been poking around in there beforehand, leaving undetected holes in the bottom of each candy. I would personally be hurt and more than a little disappointed. No one wants such a special gift to be ruined by someone’s selfish ac
