God's Timing For many years of my Christian walk, I thought God answered prayer with either yes or no. Then about ten years ago, I heard a wonderful sermon and learned there is a third possible answer. It’s not “maybe,” it’s wait.  It’s all about God’s timing.  Chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes tells us, “There is a time for everything,   and a season for every activity under the heavens” (NIV). In my own experience, waiting stretches my faith muscles. I am assured that if the answer I’m hoping for is best for me, it will come in God’s time. And if it’s not in His will for me, He will firmly shut that door. Even if I am disappointed, I can have peace knowing that the Master Designer s

Looking out the Window: Coming Soon! Take a Sneak Peek into Hold for Release, a new Romantic Suspense by Heidi Glick.

A Warm Welcome to Heidi Glick Hi Heidi, first, tell us a little about yourself. I have lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Florida, California, and Canada (briefly—my parents were missionaries for a short period). I currently live in Northwest Ohio. I’m married and have two children and six pets. Before I became a writer, I taught science and edited science documents. Now, I stay at home with my kids and write fiction.  Lots of  writers loved to read as children. How about you? Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? As a child, I had insomnia, which I would later find out is most likely because of ADHD. I required little sleep and stayed up a lot. My family encouraged me to read at night. I read whatever was in my house, so mostly the Sugar Creek Gang Series . My family likes to tell the story of how I stayed up an entire night and read Charlotte’s Web. There is a huge age gap between me and my siblings, so I was like an only child. In my teens, I often like t

Looking Out the Window: Stories Run Through Erin Stevenson's Head Most of Her Waking Hours. Today, She Talks About Sisters Ever After. Gives Away A Copy

A Warm Welcome to Erin Stevenson Erin will give away an e-Book or a print book (U.S. residents) of Sisters Ever After. Winner's choice.   To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. Hi Erin, first, tell us a little about yourself. I’m Erin, just a child of the King. I have four grown children and three grands. I live in central Iowa and enjoy puttering in my yard, which mostly equates to pulling weeds. My secret indulgence is regular M & Ms.  Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? I read everything that was appealing to a child of the 60s. When the teacher unpacked the Scholastic book order each month, she gave each child their 2-3 books and then handed the box with the remaining dozen+ books to me.  Tell us about your latest book. This book is called Sisters Ever After and is very close to my heart. Without giving away anything, it’s a story about learning to trust God’s timing. Two people meet under circumstances that pit them against o

Looking Out The Window: Leeann Betts Talks About Missing Deposits, Her Latest Mystery / Suspense. Includes a Giveaway.

A Warm Welcome to Leeann Betts Leeann will give away EITHER a print copy (U.S. residents only) OR an eBook of  Missing Deposits. To learn how to enter to win read to the end of the chapter excerpt below. Hi Leeann, first, tell us a little about yourself.  I am actually the alter ego of Donna Schlachter, who writes historical mystery. She created me because that’s what a publishing industry professional told her she should do. I’m really glad she did, because, like Frosty the Snowman, I came to life one day, and I’ve been enjoying every day since. Together we have written a couple of books on the craft of writing, and I get to tag along when she does research. Donna lets me write my own stuff, too, which is cool, because then people treat me like I’m a real person. Why do you write?  I guess I write because otherwise, there’d be no reason for me to exist. I know Donna writes because the stories are in there and they have to come out. For me, I like to see t

Looking Out The Window: For Mystery Lovers: Lillian Duncan Talks About Her New Christmas Novella, All I Want For Christmas Is Johnny Rocker Dead

A Warm Welcome to Lillian Duncan, Former Carol Award Finalist Murder, Mayhem and Christmas? Really?  On the surface, it may seem that murder and mayhem doesn’t necessarily go with Christmas, but I love weaving a Christmas story in with suspense and romance. Because of that I have several Christmas stories available— The Christmas Stalking; The Christmas Angel Thief; No Home for the Holidays ; and A Christmas Stolen. My latest Christmas novella is All I Want For Christmas Is Johnny Rocker Dead! How’s that for a title filled with murder, mayhem and Christmas? I won’t tell you the plot but I will tell you the story is about how much God loves each of us—no matter what we’ve done. And isn’t that what Christmas is really all about? Speaking of Christmas, one of the things my husband and I do every Christmas is to clear out our enclosed porch and then we put up Christmas trees. Yes, I said trees as in many trees. Last year, we had 14 or 15 trees up. In all sizes and sh

Looking Out The Window: Jennifer Uhlarik Talks About Writing, Her Love Of Westerns and Her New Book, Sand Creek Serenade. Gives Away an E-book.

A Warm Welcome to Jennifer Uhlarik Jennifer will give away an eBook of Sand Creek Serenade. To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. Hi Jennifer, tell us a little about yourself. Let’s see. I am a wife to a retired cop, with a step-son, a son, and a grandson. (I’m surrounded by boys—and I love it!) My husband and I are empty-nesters for the most part, as my step-son lives on his own, and my son is in college. The college kiddo stays with us on school breaks and summers, but otherwise, it’s just the two of us. I love to travel, though I don’t get to do big trips nearly often enough. Instead, we do short weekend getaways a couple of times a year within driving distance of home—with a larger, more expensive/longer distance trip every few years. When we do get away, we like to explore Civil War battlefields, quaint towns, art and history museums, old homes, and the like. I love to explore those historic places and sites in hopes that someday, I can use them

Looking Out The Window: Diana Sharples Talks About Her New Young Adult Novel, Because...Anonymous

A Warm Welcome To Diana Sharples Hi Diana,  First, tell us a little about yourself. Hey, y’all! I’m that crazy lady with the pink-streaked hair who rides that Screamin’ Eagle Harley and has and all the howling huskies! Actually, I’m Diana Sharples, and yes, I do have pink streaks in my hair. Because you gotta have fun in life, right? And I do ride my own Harley. For the same reason. I write clean, contemporary young adult fiction. My debut novel, Running Lean, was published several years ago by Zondervan, but shortly after that I fought a battle against breast cancer. It brought my marketing efforts to a halt but didn’t stop me from writing. So this year I’m finally back with not one, but five new novels. Because … yes, I am a little insane. One of those novels is the sequel to my debut novel, and another is a much-loved book I’ve had around for a while and have rewritten several times. But what I’d like to talk about today is the new YA mystery series I’m self-p

Looking Out The Window: Eileen Rife Talks About Her New Children's Book, Kenzie And The Spooky House Adventure, Shares An Authentic Indian Tea Recipe And Gives Away An E-Book

A Warm Welcome to Eileen Rife Eileen shares a recipe for authentic Indian Chai and a Bible verse and gives away an e-Book. To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. A Favorite Indian Recipe Enjoyed by My Character, Kenzie (I like it, too!) In Book one of my fictional missionary kid series, protag Kenzie lives with her family in India. Every afternoon around 4:00, Kenzie and her family enjoy tea and usually some kind of pastry or cake, all in good British fashion. She’d learned from her studies that the Brits ruled India as far back as the 1700s. India eventually gained its independence in 1948 but retained the custom of afternoon tea. The Indians add milk, sugar, and spices to their black tea, thus creating what they call chai. Various recipes abound for this drink, also now popular in the States. I’ve enjoyed chai on several occasions while visiting India, and whenever my missionary kids visit us in the States, they whip up a batch. The aroma alone is ca
