Hi Pat, first, tell us a little about yourself.  During the past fifty-plus years my high-school-sweetheart husband and I have struggled and triumphed through life’s peaks and valleys. We raised a son and a daughter and welcomed four grandchildren into our family. One precious granddaughter lives with the angels. We adore spending time with our family.  Sixteen years ago, Tim and I retired the same day, me from a twenty-seven-year corporate career with an international beauty company. We bought a Corvette, finished decorating our home, and checked off every item on our travel bucket list. Now I’m pursuing career number two as an author and proving it’s never too late to follow your dreams.  Many writers were avid readers as children. How about you? If so, what did you read? I remember visiting the mobile library which

Looking Out The Window: Erin Lorence Introduces Dove Strong, The Heroine In The Dove Strong Trilogy. She'll Give Away An E-book.

A Warm Welcome To Erin Lorence To enter to win the  Dove Strong eBook leave a comment and an email address below. Hi Erin, First, tell us a little about yourself. Thanks for asking! I’m a 39-year-old wife, mother, and beagle-owner from Western Washington. My mom, who died a year ago, was a published author of over thirty nonfiction books, and she always held me to a high standard of writing. Oh boy, the fights we had over my English papers when I was a teen! I’m a Registered Nurse, although I stopped working at the hospitals since my daughters’ births, choosing instead to work mostly from home. I’m currently employed at my daughter’s local school as a lunch lady and as a part-time paraeducator, and I’m beginning to pursue my Master in Teaching. I love to take walks with my husband and prefer to read rather than watch TV or partake in social media—yes, I realize that sounds boring. I fell into writing about five years ago, and I’m still excited by it. Tell us about y

Looking In The Window: Talking Love For Valentine's

Valentine Courtesy of Pixabay Talking Love At Valentine’s Day we think of romantic love, but there are many kinds of love—love of children, Moms, Dads and friends. They all enrich our lives.  At first it seemed odd to me that I’d think of an atheist on a day celebrating love, but maybe not. When I was in college I used to run into him in the small cafe where we gathered for sodas, hamburgers and French fries after class. I tried to avoid him, because he always hopped over to my table and started an argument about my faith. He was angry at me because I am a Christian. Even though today I can’t recall which verses he used, he’d take passages from the Bible and try to make me say they weren’t true. When I wouldn’t, he’d retort with a scientific argument and claim it had to be right. It was the mention of God's love that finally silenced him. That's why he comes to mind on Valen

A Warm Welcome to Eileen Rife Eileen shares a recipe for authentic Indian Chai and a Bible verse and gives away an e-Book. To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. A Favorite Indian Recipe Enjoyed by My Character, Kenzie (I like it, too!) In Book one of my fictional missionary kid series, protag Kenzie lives with her family in India. Every afternoon around 4:00, Kenzie and her family enjoy tea and usually some kind of pastry or cake, all in good British fashion. She’d learned from her studies that the Brits ruled India as far back as the 1700s. India eventually gained its independence in 1948 but retained the custom of afternoon tea. The Indians add milk, sugar, and spices to their black tea, thus creating what they call chai. Various recipes abound for this drink, also now popular in the States. I’ve enjoyed chai on several occasions while visiting India, and whenever my missionary kids visit us in the States, they whip up a batch. The aroma alone is ca

Looking Out the Window: Jennifer Slattery Introduces When Dawn Breaks, Her New Book, Shares a Devotional and An Excerpt

A Warm Welcome to Jennifer Slattery A Personal Story by Jennifer Sometimes my heart and mouth get ahead of my brain. And sometimes what I thought was a great thing, a God-thing, leaves me scratching my head. And hitting my knees. Fast. As I was writing my novel, When Dawn Breaks , I thought of one situation in particular, one where I encountered a mother similar, in many ways, to the one my heroine, Jacqueline Dunn encountered. It was the spring of 2002. I was a new mom with a passion to change the world. Young and overwhelmed with the whole parenting thing, I joined a women’s Bible study.  We met to discuss Scripture, parenting ideas and problems, and what God’s Word had to say on those matters. We shared out fears and our tears, along with steady doses of hugs and chocolate. One morning, a new woman joined our group. She seemed so quiet, so meek, so… vulnerable. Broken. You see, her husband had left her and their three young boys, all under the age of six. Worse, she
