Looking out the Window: Pamela Thibodeaux Talks about Kyleigh's Cowboy, Her New Novel, and Shares a Devotional about Hearing God

A Warm Welcome to Pamela Thibodeaux Pamela shares a wonderful devotional. Have you ever heard the audible voice of God? I have. I bet you have too, although you may not have recognized it for what it was. I remember a time when I was filled with shame and guilt and doubt because of the kind of life I was living. My husband and I attended a new church, a place we’d never set foot in before and there, in the quiet of the service I heard God say, very plainly, “You are forgiven.” Did that change my life? Not completely but it did set me on the path to change. Isn’t that what faith is all about–changing as we get to know Him and hear His voice in whatever means He uses to speak to us? When I start writing a book, I don’t always know the referencing scripture. Most of the time I don’t even have a blurb or tagline or anything to develop the story around. I’m 100% panster when it comes to creating, but somewhere along the journey, these things fall into place (especially if I’m listening to

Looking Out the Window: Stories Run Through Erin Stevenson's Head Most of Her Waking Hours. Today, She Talks About Sisters Ever After. Gives Away A Copy

A Warm Welcome to Erin Stevenson Erin will give away an e-Book or a print book (U.S. residents) of Sisters Ever After. Winner's choice.   To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. Hi Erin, first, tell us a little about yourself. I’m Erin, just a child of the King. I have four grown children and three grands. I live in central Iowa and enjoy puttering in my yard, which mostly equates to pulling weeds. My secret indulgence is regular M & Ms.  Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? I read everything that was appealing to a child of the 60s. When the teacher unpacked the Scholastic book order each month, she gave each child their 2-3 books and then handed the box with the remaining dozen+ books to me.  Tell us about your latest book. This book is called Sisters Ever After and is very close to my heart. Without giving away anything, it’s a story about learning to trust God’s timing. Two people meet under circumstances that pit them against o

Looking Out The Window: Introducing Following the Sparrows, A New Book By Karen Malley, a Scientist By Day and Writer By Night

A Warm Welcome to Karen Malley Hi Karen, first, tell us a little about yourself. Sure! I’m a scientist by day, and a writer by night. I live in Southeastern Pennsylvania with my husband and two teenage sons. I love spending time with my family, especially outdoors. We enjoy camping and hiking. We also spend a lot of time playing board games. When I was in graduate school, my husband also went back to school and we didn’t have much money. Because of that, we spent a lot of time playing games, since it was free entertainment.  Were you an avid reader as a child? What did you read? Oh, definitely. I’ve always loved to read. In elementary school we used to have readathons where you’d go to the neighbors and they would give you a donation for every book you read, and the money went to support multiple sclerosis research. My neighbors learned after the first year not to pledge more than a dime per book, since I was known to read about 100 books!  As a child I enjoyed Dr. Seuss, The Berenst

Looking Out The Window: Izzy James Talks About Her New Book, The Shopkeeper's Widow. Gives Away An E-Book

A Warm Welcome to Izzy James To enter to win the e-Book of The Shopkeeper's Widow leave an email address and a comment below. Hi Izzy, lots of writers were avid readers as children. What about you? If so, what did you read? Yes, and I still am. I pretty much read whatever I could get my hands on. I fell in love with reading when my Dad took my sisters and I to the library the first time. I got a book and the character in the book saw letters with colors. And I thought “Me too!” I requested a lamp to read by at night and I never looked back.  Let's talk about your writing. What themes do you write about? Lately my themes have been about freedom and second chances. Are you a plotter or pantzer? A mix. I start with a general outline that changes as I go as the characters come to life and tell me just what they think should happen next.  Do you have any advice for aspiring writers? Write. Read. Write some more. Read books on craft—anything by James Scott Bell—and practice what t

I began reading sweet romances around age twelve and evolved to Historical and traditional romance in middle/high school. Other than paranormal, I pretty much read across the board, but I almost always choose romance. I also read a lot of spiritual/self-help non-fiction. Tell us about your latest book . My Heart Weeps is the story of a woman’s journey through grief and parallels my own… After thirty years married to the man of her dreams, Melena Rhyker is devastated by her husband's death. Relief comes in the form of an artist'

Looking Out The Window: The Inspiration For Hair Calamities and Hot Cash, a TopShelf 2020 Book Awards Nominee

I've been excited about Hair Calamities and Hot Cash since the day I planned to write it. It's inspired by my mother's beauty shop, set in the awe-inspiring North Carolina Mountains. Mother's shop was at the foothills of these magnificent peaks, but I placed the fictitious shop, Eve's Clips, at a higher elevation to allow for the breathtaking scenery. Yet, it was the atmosphere my mother created and the people who frequented the shop that motivated me to write about them. Getting a "do" at her salon served as a social gathering as well as a service. Customers who knew each other discussed how to make the latest recipe, what to do about world affairs and everything in between, including family relations, births, deaths and weddings. Clients planned showers, graduation parties and get-togethers for new neighbors while hair flew. Mostly townspeople showed up, and the spirit of the community overflowed. The residents had close friends, acquai

Gail, thank you for inviting me here today. I’ve been writing for about ten years for Heartsong Presents, which is the romance line at Barbour Publishing. I have eleven novels published with them as well as two collections and one audio book. Learning to Lean is a new venture for me as I launch into ebook publishing and promotion. It’s exciting to reach into a new area of readers with my work. While I fully intend to continue writing for my Heartsong readers, I hope to reach many ebook readers with the stories I am now working on for Amazon. In fact, as my backlist becomes available, my goal is to rewrite some of those and publish them as ebooks as well as new, unpublished stories. It sounds as though we readers have lots to look forward to. Were you an avid reader as a child? O
