A Warm Welcome to Carol Wilson James   Carol shares a couple of her favorite Bible verses and a yummy brisket recipe. She'll give away a digital copy of A Time for Singing . Enter to win at the Rafflecopter contest below. A couple of my favorite Bible verses are Isaiah 43:18-19   “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” These are the verses upon which I base my writing ministry, but they mean so much more to me. My parents were married for over fifty years. But not long after my mother died, my father remarried. And Bessie entered our lives. While Bessie never tried to take the place of my mother, she loved my father. She loved me and loved my daughters as if they were her own grandchildren. She became a “stream in the wasteland” for my father and us. We were blessed to have her be a part of our family. Bessie was an amazing cook,

Now from Nancy: Favorite Bible Verse I love God’s Word so picking just one Bible verse is hard. But I think a lot about Psalm 91. I guess the part I recite and lean on the most is: Psalm 91: 14-16 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” These are such encouraging promises. We will never be alone. We can count on God to deliver us from anything we go through. And we can believe for a long and satisfying life.  Favorite Recipe  Nancy Shares a Recipe From Her Mom My mother

Looking in the Window: The Mall Walker, a Caring Heart and a New Year's Giveaway

We all have it, and we can give it to others for free? What is it? It’s a smile. There are so many different kinds of smiles. There’s the flirty smile that says, “Hey, I really like you.” There’s the friendly smile, and the one that’s reserved for babies that says, “Oh, isn’t he or she just the cutest thing?” There are even half-hearted smiles that seem to say, “I’m obligated to speak to you,” and of course, sheepish smiles that say, “Yeah, I did it.” But one day I received a smile from an unlikely source.  Since I have a back problem, I’m restricted to walking on a flat surface, so most of the time I join the mall walkers. Even on days when I’m not rushed or tired, getting the exercise seems a chore. Sometimes it's a challenge to avoid bumping into folks who stop suddenly to gaze at a window display or those in groups who take the entire aisle. And, that’s not to mention hurrying to get out of the way of the train the kids ride around the mall.  As I made my way through the crow

Looking out the Window: Linda Weaver Clarke Talks about Her New Christian Book, Light at the End of a Tunnel, Book One in Her Women of Courage Series

A Warm Welcome to Linda Weaver Clarke Hi Linda, tell us about the premise for your new book. Amidst Trials, is there a Light at the end of the Tunnel? All of us have challenges in our lives and we feel so alone. We sometimes wonder if we are the only ones who are experiencing difficulties. Have you ever felt that each trial you have endured was so difficult that you wondered where the “light at the end of the tunnel” was? Many times we try to solve our own problems and don’t bother talking to anyone or asking for help. “No matter our circumstances, no matter our challenges or trials, there is something in each day to embrace and cherish. There is something in each day that can bring gratitude and joy if only we will see and appreciate it.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf This was Hannah’s attitude as she tried to search for the “light at the end of the tunnel.” How many times do we search for that light, wondering where it is and hoping that the trials in life will soon end? Is God watching ove

Hi Jodie, Lots of writers were avid readers as children. What about you? If so, what did you read? Most definitely. I loved reading Peanuts books whenever a new one came out. I also read the Little House on the Prairie series, Trixie Beldon series, Nancy Drew, and so many more. Why do you write? I write because it’s something I feel God has called me to do. Tell us about your latest book. Only problem, she no longer requires his protecting so he’s unsure of his next step. Annie McPherson needs a change after the death of her father. To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below.  Hi Carol, first, tell us a little about yourself. Gail, thanks so much for letting me visit your blog. It's my pleasure to have you. I am a wife to one, a mother to two, a grandmother to five, and a doggie-mama to one (Zoe, a Jack Russell terrier––who sometimes seems like a dozen.) I love reading, writing, walking, M&M’s (plain), and soccer (both MLS and Premier League). I enjoy all kinds of music, but especially worship music and hymns. In fact, each of my novels is based upon a song as well as a Bible verse. I play worship music as I write. I find it brings me inspiration and encouragement. Recently, I allowed Zoe to establish Instagram and Facebook pages with two of her dog friends, Sandy and Brody. Follow them at 3 Dogs and Their Authors to discover the behind the scenes info about being a writer’s dog Why do you write? Un

Looking out the Window: Terri Gillespie Talks about Her New Book, Sweet Rivalry. Gives Away a Copy.

A Warm Welcome to Terri Gillespie Terri will give away a print copy of Sweet Rivalry (U.S. residents only). To enter to win leave a comment and an email address below. Hi Terri, first, tell us a little about yourself. Were you an avid reader as a child? As a child and through my teenage years, I struggled with learning disabilities, so you wouldn’t think I would love books. But I did. The smell, the feel of the cover and pages, seeing them on a bookshelf.  Going to the library was an adventure. I entered with hope that there would be that special book that I could completely read, fully understand. But when it was time to return them, none had been read, or finished. More than anything I wanted to read them through. Not just the first few pages over and over again, but all the way to the end. Having a vivid imagination, I wrote in my head what the story could be about. If I read enough of the story, I could figure it out, mostly. It wasn’t until my younger sisters were born that I rea

Looking Out The Window: Reader's Favorite Award Winner Regina Andrews Talks About Her New Book, Act of Faith

First of all, thank you so much for hosting me on your wonderful blog! I am delighted to be here! It is so exciting to share Act of Faith with you and your readers. It is available now in paperback and ebook form on Amazon.  Act of Faith is actually book two in my Dunbar Falls series. The first book, In Good Faith, was released and received outstanding reviews. But I have deliberately written the series so that each book stands by itself and you do not have to read them in order.  More good news! Right now I am working on book three in the series called Leap of Faith. I am planning to have that one ready to release in the spring.  That's great, and it's my pleasure to host you! Lots of writers were avid readers as children. How about you? If so, tell us what you liked to read. I used to love to read dot-dot-dot and

Looking out the Window: Genesis Award Winner Valerie Massey Goree Talks about Justice at Dawn, Shares a Yummy Recipe and Two Personal, Inspirational Stories. Gives away a Copy of Her Book.

A Warm Welcome to Valerie Massey Goree Valerie will give away a copy of Justice at Dawn. Winner's choice, print or e-Book (U.S. residents); e-Book only (non-U.S. residents).  Valerie also shares a wonderful recipe and her favorite Bible verse with the inspirational stories behind them.  The Story Behind Valerie's Mother's Shortbread My mother’s shortbread was a staple in our home when I was a kid. I grew up in the former British Colony of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, in Central Africa. Following our British heritage, we always had people over for tea. Knock on the door any afternoon, and you’d be welcomed with, “Come in. So good to see you. I’ll put the kettle on.” Mom always had her three-tiered cake tin filled with goodies. Sometimes cake, but more often than not, biscuits (cookies), scones, savory cheese straws, and her shortbread. When I got married in Texas, my parents travelled from South Africa for the wedding.  Valerie's parents at her wedding. I’d asked Mom to brin
