Some might think a person who would flee a bad situation must be weak or cowardly. As any abused person will tell you, that is not true. It’s usually easier, and sometimes safer, for somebody in a dangerous or abusive situation to stay where they are. And even if the problem isn’t abuse, a raw deal must be huge to make a person leave. And in the case of my hero, not only to leave, but to disappear off the face of the earth, reappearing hundreds of miles away in 1879 Colorado, under a new name. Looking out the Window: Katie Clark Shares the Story Behind Her New Book, A Dim Hope, Releasing on September 22

A Warm Welcome to Katie Clark Thanks so much for having me here! It's my pleasure.  One of the most common questions I get asked about my books is where I get my ideas.  My latest novel, A Dim Hope, came about from a dream. This isn’t all that strange for me; I dream in color all the time! This dream, though, and the way the novel came about, is special to me. You see, my nine-year-old daughter was in the hospital at the time. She was in the intensive care unit at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she had been battling her second cancer diagnosis. Emma wasn’t doing well. I dreamt about two sisters—one was healthy, and one was not. The healthy sister wanted to save the unhealthy sister, and the method of saving would come through a yellow stone set in a leather bracelet. The dream involved a quest. When I woke from my dream, I told Emma all about it. She loved hearing my stories, and she had talked over lots of story points with me in years past. This was the last book s

Looking out the Window: Writer, Blog and Podcast Hostess Patti Shene Gonzales Tells Us How She Knows Jesus Is Real

A Warm Welcome to Patti Shene Gonzales Be on the lookout for a Christmas novella from Patti Hi Patti, Thanks for joining us today to discuss this important question. HOW DO I KNOW JESUS IS REAL? This interesting question is one that some may ponder for a period of time, while others will have an immediate answer.  I had a prompt answer, but I also dove deeper into my thoughts in order to present a more substantial rationalization for my belief. My immediate response to the question generated another question. Is Jesus real? Simple answer.  Yes. Then I stepped back and asked myself how we know anyone we have heard about in history is real. Take George Washington, for example. We learned in school that he was a great American military leader who eventually held the position of the first president of the United States. We know facts about him based on writings that have been recorded in history books for generations.  The first people who communicated those facts knew George Washington
