Myself, my father and my two sisters walked the aisle of that small country church. Not too long after that, we joined hands with others in the middle of a small pond in a green pasture and were baptized.  I tried to do everything that was expected of a good Christian teenager. I went to church, alone if I had to. Attended churches of all denominations—trying to find the perfect one for me. I even took Bible Study courses through the mail. I was doing it all and was very proud of myself. Right out of High School I got married and moved across country with my young husband who had joined the Air Force. Two years later we had a daughter and thought life wa

Lots of writers grew up with reading as a favorite pasttime. Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? As a child, I read everything I could get my hands on.  I particularly enjoyed mysteries and was a big fan of Nancy Drew.  I was a big Nancy Drew fan also, but about your writing. Tell us about your latest book. Secrets , book #4 in my Wounded Heroes series is Caleb 'Digger' Malone's story.  After being wounded in Afghanistan, he returns to the states and takes a job in his brother's private investigations agency. His first solo assignment is a simple 'snap a few photos of a cheating fiancé case'. But as Caleb learned in the army, nothing is ever that simple. Hired by the father of the future bride, Caleb quickly r

Looking Out the Window: Sharon Srock Talks about The Women of Valley View: Pam. She'll Give Away an E-book and Shares a Link to a Free Novella

A warm welcome to the woman behind The Women of Valley View - Sharon Srock. To enter to win The Women of Valley View: Pam leave a comment and an e-mail address. Were you an avid reader as a child? What did you read? My father’s job moved us around a lot when I was growing up. I didn’t make friends easily, but I learned that books could move with me. I read a lot of different things. Probably my favorites were the Trixie Beldon series and Victoria Holt mysteries. As a young wife and mother I had my romance period as well. From there I moved to Science fiction and fantasy. Now, I don’t read a specific type of book. If it grabs my attention, I’ll read it. Interesting to find someone else who reads all genres. So, you went from reading to writing. Why do you write? The short answer is because God told me to. The long answer is harder to explain. I never dreamed of being a writer when I was a child. I dreaded book reports and English assignments. One day I wok

The Powerful, Miraculous Easter Message

Photo courtesy Photobucket Jesus lived among the Jews and the gentiles showing us his Gospel of love, telling us how to live in peace and care for each other. “...Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22: 37 – 39)  Photo courtesy Photobucket The suffering He endured illustrates how imperfect and cruel the world can be. “Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, ‘We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified…’” (Matthew 20: 17 -19) His crucifixion shows us God’s unconditional love. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him sh

Looking Out the Window: Mental Health Counselor Weaves Inspirational Romance about a War Veteran Amputee with PTSD. Connie Almony Tackles a Tough Problem Faced Today.

Connie will give away a print copy (U.S. Only) OR an e-book--winner's choice. To enter to win leave a comment and an e-mail address below. It's a pleasure to have Connie today. Please tell us a little about yourself. I am trained as a mental health counselor and though I no longer see clients, I still work at a Christian counseling facility. I’ve been married over twenty years to a man who inspires the mischievous banter of my hero and heroine. I also have two children who model the quirkiness of my more colorful characters. Lots of writers liked to read as children. Were you an avid reader as a child? What did you read? Okay, this is where all you avid-reading-child-people cringe … I watched WAY too much T.V. and read mostly non-fiction as a child. I know—it’s awful!!! But then I hit twenty, and found some books that interested me. Eventually, I started reading classic 19th century literature (I LOVE Jane Austin, George MacDonald and Charles Dickens) and finally

Looking Out the Window: Londonderry Dreaming, Pavlova, and an Irish Blessing--All from Christine Lindsay Plus a Give Away

A warm welcome to Christine Lindsay! She'll give away an e-book of Londonderry Dreaming . To enter to win leave a comment and an e-mail address below.     A FAVORITE IRISH DESSERT THAT CAME FROM NEW ZEALAND by Christine Lindsay With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, I can’t think of anything more perfect than to share with you a dessert that I discovered in Ireland when I was visiting family there in 1988. The funny thing is, the dessert Pavlova originated in New Zealand. But Northern Ireland (the six counties in the northeast) is still a part of Great Britain to this day, so it’s only natural that a dessert from another British Commonwealth country should be one of their favorites. Writing the romance novella Londonderry Dreaming of the Passport to Romance line was such a hoot for me. Being born in N. Ireland, and all my relatives still living there, I simply had to write this book when I saw the call for submission by Pelican Books for a romance set

Looking in the Window: Believing the Wrong Words?

God is dead . Remember those words from the 1960’s, spoken to make society pull away from Christianity. They shocked, stunned, and infuriated. Both the phrase and phase died as those who started the 1960’s anti-Christian slogan finally realized people weren’t buying it. Words to dim the light of Christianity burned strong in the 1980’s, when those fighting to abolish the faith forced laws prohibiting prayer in schools. Here are a few. The real world . In the 1980’s many were told their children needed the public schools to prepare them for the real world. The real world is what we make it. In many of our schools it has become one with students wielding guns and knives and selling drugs. If we raise children with Christian beliefs and principles, society will become a place with Christian values. Not every person has to be a Christian to live in a world that promotes peace and love any more than every person needs to be violent to live in the current one. It’s a matter of whi

Looking Out the Window: Ginger Solomon Talks about One Choice. Gives Away a Copy.

Welcome, Ginger Solomon!     It's so nice to have Ginger today. She'll give away a PDF copy of One Choice. To enter to win leave a comment and an e-mail address. It's always interesting to know what writers like to read. Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? I loved reading. Many nights I could be found in my room reading until the wee hours of the morning then getting up at 6am to go to school. Even now it is incredibly hard for me to put down a good book even if I’m exhausted. As a child I loved mysteries – Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and the like. Now I prefer romance in almost any genre. Let's talk about your writing. Why do you write? Such an easy question and yet difficult to answer. I write because I can’t NOT write. Even before the notion came to me to write novel-length fiction, I wrote in a journal. The desire to write hounded me for years before a dream instigated the vision of writing books. Congratulations
