Looking in the Window: The Greatest Change

Out with the old and in with the new, a popular phrase defined by some as changing the old, leaving the old behind, or moving forward. Change is a big buzz word in our society, but the greatest change that ever has been or will be occurred on Easter when Christ rose from the dead, giving those who believe in Him eternal life, and we don’t even need to pay for it. He did that when he suffered and died for our sins. Matthew 20: 18 – 19, tells us “...They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified…’”  Photo courtesy of Pixabay In Matthew 28: 5 – 6, when women came to Jesus’s tomb after his crucifixion, “The angel said to…” them… “‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen…”  On the Third Day He Rose from the Dead! Photo courtesy of PhotoBucket There’s no power greater than Jesus. He conquered death and lives with us today while the Holy Spirit lives within us. Si

One Day Heaven Was Open Those five words from “One Day” rang in my head as I contemplated this post. The hymn is a beautiful story of Christ’s redemptive love, but those lyrics came to mind for a different reason. There had been a day in my life when Heaven had opened, and I saw clearly my Savior who bled and died for me. Since that day, there have been other times when the Lord has shown Himself real to me. One particular time I will never forget occurred one very early foggy morning. While driving to work, I passed an entrance ramp onto Interstate 95. An overwhelming prompting from the Holy Spirit urged me powerfully with one word. “Pray.” Then a still, small voice said, “Pray for Ethan.” Ethan is my grown son. I knew he would have been on his way to work in the fog driving on the interstate I

We Are All Travelers The Christmas season is one that is always filled with hope, excitement, and most of all anticipation. It is also a time when many travel to meet their loved ones and to be reunited with family. In thinking about Christmas and the theme of traveling, the voyage of the Holy Family comes to my mind instantly. They had to travel long hours, day and night, over rugged terrain to finally find a stable where the baby could be born.  And all through his life, Jesus seemed to travel, meeting as many

Looking out the Window: Mary Marelli Talks about Her Debut Novel, Moon over Montana. In a Moving Recollection She Also Shares How She Knows Jesus Is Real.

A Warm Welcome to Mary Marelli Hi Mary, tell us a little about yourself.    I’m Mary Marelli, wife, mother, grandmother, and author.  God and family are first and foremost in my life.  With them, God by my side and my family to support me, everything else falls into place.  We live on a private lake in the mountains of eastern Pennsylvania.   My children are grown, so it is just hubby and myself.  Oh, and I can’t forget our hound.  She won’t let me.   Were you an avid reader as a child? If so, what did you read? I couldn’t get my nose out of a book!  I remember the hot summer days I would sit in the shade of an apple tree and read.  We lived in a rural farming community.  My Oma and Opa raised chickens, had a huge garden, and were fairly self-sustainable.  Our neighbor across the street raised horses.  Horses and reading became a huge part of my life.  There was nothing more comforting on a lazy summer afternoon to sit there and read, Oma and Opa bustling about, and horses grazing in t

The Day God Sent a Road I needed to get to the doctor. We were young and had no fear of icy roads. After several years of hoping for a child, the doctor confirmed I was expecting. My husband and I moved through the next few weeks in a sort of daze, not sure if we could believe our dreams were finally coming true. Then problems developed, and we feared I was losing the baby. The doctor was a specialist in a larger city about seventy-five miles away, but when I called with my concerns, he asked me to come to his office. Determined to do whatever it took to save our child, we started out although snow and ice covered the ground and dotted the roads. Clouds an

Prayer and Jesus I believe in Jesus. I know He is listening to my prayers. Obviously, I cannot prove it. While there have been a few times I received some specific nudges in the right direction, one particular event remains so crystal clear I can only assume it was divine intervention. It all started because I was worried about my middle sister. She had been dating a man for a long, long time. He didn’t have any ambition and appeared to be rather lackadaisical about everything. He assumed they would marry, but he didn’t date her every weekend. I had strong doubts about the fellow. Finally, I decided to do something about it. I asked my sister if she had questioned this man about important issues related to marriage. For instance, what would he do if she had a baby? Would she be able to stay home wit

In general, the Western world—and many in the church—do not know what to do when confronted with fearsome circumstances or unexpected suffering. We need only to observe the world as it navigates out of a global catastrophe that has torn through churches and communities to see that God’s people haven’t always suffered well amidst the fearsome unknown. Yet our responses have the power to either draw others to the Lord or drive them away. How we represent Christ while we face our fear matters. This is part of

Looking out the Window: Victoria Simcox Talks About Jesus's Charge That We Love One Another and Her Children's Book, Norma Elliot's Secret Journal, Book One

A Warm Welcome to Victoria Simcox Loving One Another  Jesus charged us with what seems impossible—to love one another. But how can we love others with that same unconditional love that Jesus loves us with?  Jesus knows all of our inadequacies, and he still gives us the command to love one another just as he loves us. He had shown a love that is comprised of acceptance, forgiveness, and compassion. It was a love manifest by unselfishness and putting others above oneself, a love that even exceeded cultural standardizations and opportunities. God is love and if we call ourselves godly, then we need to display to others the love of Christ. Love is what we should demonstrate to others whether they merit it or not. Love should be our submission and duty to God. It can be tough to love individuals we feel are trying but the grace of God will aid us in doing so. Pray for a loving and kind heart toward others, and that you will be a likeness of the love of Christ in the world. About Norma Ell
