Looking in the Window: A Christmas Sale

I'm happy to announce three of my books on sale for Christmas. They're available at reduced prices from now through December 5th.

Barely Above Water for $1.99

"Resonates with hope when all hope seems to be gone..."

Fifteen years ago I grew quite ill. After having tests for a month, I was told treatment wasn’t available because my malady couldn’t be diagnosed. Divine intervention led me to an alternative doctor, David Lee, D.C., Ph.D. and C.Ad., who started treating me immediately and subsequently told me I had Chronic Lyme Disease. Since then I’ve met and heard of many people suffering from this illness, or one that can’t be diagnosed. Their stories touched my heart and inspired me to write Barely Above Water.

About the book

An illness strikes Suzie Morris, and her boyfriend dumps her. She has no living family, and her physician can’t diagnose the malady. Relying on her Christian faith, she turns to an alternative doctor in Destin, Florida, where she takes a job coaching a rag-tag summer swim team. Her handsome boss renews her belief in love, but learns of her affliction and cuts romantic ties. He has regrets, but is it too late to regain Suzie’s trust?

An excerpt from Deborah Stone, a Reader’s Favorite reviewer. “Gail Pallotta's characters are real and convincing because they come from a place of understanding. Gail's love story is fragile and tender, but with an inner strength that comes from trust and faith in God. Gail Pallotta's story is inspiring and resonates with hope when all hope seems to be gone. A lovely story with well defined and well developed characters, and a story line with factual information that will help, or at least educate, readers.

Hair Calamities and Hot Cash for .99

“A comedic romp from small town to big city in search of missing money, hair catastrophes, and love. A truly fun read”—Cynthia Hickey, author of the Shady Acres Mystery series.

Wonderful, caring Christian people filled the small town where I grew up. Like everyone they had best friends, acquaintances and people they avoided, but when a crisis struck they answered with prayers, casseroles and hugs no matter if the person was a best friend or someone to avoid. They were all God’s people. Their love has stayed with me wherever I’ve gone. I gave Hair Calamities and Hot Cash the same ambiance because I wanted to share it.

About the Book

What happens when a New York stockbroker crashes his car into Eve Castleberry’s North Carolina beauty shop...on the same day the young widow’s defective hair products are causing wild hairdos?

Soon Eve finds herself helping the handsome stranger hunt the thieves who stole his client’s cash...and hot on the trail of two of the F.B.I.’s most-wanted criminals! Romance blossoms amid danger, suspense and Eve’s hair-brained plan to get back the money.

An excerpt from an Amazon reviewer:  Comical chaos flows effortlessly in this starry-eyed, humorous tale of misfortune surprisingly turning to serendipity. ‘Hair Calamities and Hot Cash’ is a fresh, cozy, romantic mystery by Gail Pallotta...every bit brilliant and complete with charm, excitement and wit".

The latest book, Cooking up a Mystery for $1.99

"...a delectable mystery."

I wanted to write books about single, Christian women entrepreneurs overcoming difficult circumstances while hanging onto their faith. When I looked for a profession to give the main character, Laney, I thought of cooking. I’ve always heard authors should write what they know, and I started cooking when I was ten years old. According to my father, I’d need to know how when I married. He was a bit premature. I didn’t marry until I was thirty. By then I’d learned how to cook some pretty tasty dinners. After we’d been married a while, my husband said, “You could open a restaurant.” There were other things I’d rather do, such as writing, but I decided to open one in this book.

About the Book

"Gail Pallotta has cooked up a delectable mystery with all the right ingredients: rich characters, page-turning suspense, and heart-touching romance. One warning. Don’t read this when you’re hungry! With all the great food references, you could gain five pounds!" Nancy Mehl, Bestselling author of  author of  the Defenders of Justice and the Kaely Quinn Profiler Series.

Latest 5-star review: What more do we need? Laney's restaurant is described so well I wanted to drop in for some of her delicious cooking. But I'd want to leave before night when the banging pots and pans stirred up fear and a mystery. Cooking up a mystery is a delightful story. I was unable to figure out how anyone could come and go without using the door, or how so much noise was made with nothing disturbed by the time Laney got enough nerve to check out her kitchen. Although a suspense, the story is not frightening, and I appreciated that. The romance between Laney and Eric was just right, as was the way the mystery played out. Good Writing!

Looking Out the Window: Memories on the Heart

Several weeks ago my husband, Rick, and I ate at a restaurant we frequent fairly regularly. The cute, young waitress who usually waits on us took our orders for burgers and fries. I’ll call her Mandy. As usual Mandy’s smile and bubbly personality brightened our day. We giggled and confessed to her that we shouldn’t eat the fries, but we were going to do it just this once. She joked. “Okay, you’re being bad today.” Not long after we got our food a couple came in and sat in the booth behind us. Mandy walked up to the table with her big grin. “Hi, how are you?” she asked. The man, who had salt and pepper colored hair and a pudgy face, spoke in a harsh tone, “I want the steak.” “Sure, which one would you like?” Mandy asked. “I don’t want you to put it in the microwave. That will make it tough. Do you understand?” Mandy’s lips turned down. “Yes sir, which one do you want to order?” “I want it medium rare. I don’t want blood oozing out of it. I want it cooked right.” “Yes sir, which steak di

Psalm 40:1-3‚ “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.” Can you think of a time when God helped you out of a low place? Perhaps something had caused you to spiral downward, or maybe like the Old Testament character, Jonah, you had run away from God so as not to have to do what He was asking of you.  Through this passage, we see that David was experiencing this first-hand. He was in a place of despair, yet God was gracious, and after some time, placed David in a new area of serv

I’ve been writing for over twenty-five years and recently had my fifty-third book published. I don’t have a lot of free time, but I love to read and watch TV to relax.   Lots of writers enjoyed reading as children. Were you an avid reader as a child?  Yes. I would stay up all night and read books under my bedspread, using a flashlight so I could see. I suspect my mother knew, but she didn’t say anything. Why do you write? I write because I believe God called me to do it.  Tell us about your latest book. Cold Threat is the second book in my Ryland and St. Clair series. River Ryland and Tony St. Clair travel to Burlington, Iowa, to help Tony’s father with a very cold case. A serial killer, ni
