Looking out the Window: Why Does Keon Lindsey Believe in Jesus? Find Out in His Blog. Read about His New Book, Have You Heard from God Lately

A Warm Welcome to Keon Lindsey

Keon shares his Biblically based reasons for believing in Jesus.

Why I believe in Jesus

I’m not a blind faith type of person. Thankfully, God does not require that and has provided lots of evidence and reasons to believe. These things got my attention and led me to decide to believe in Jesus. What were they?

Exposure to God’s Word – My mother took me to church and listened to Christian radio where I heard Bible teaching. As a boy, sometimes I paid attention and sometimes not. However, I distinctly remember becoming interested in the Bible after hearing about fulfilled prophecy that was documented in history. I liked history and realized God was involved with it.

Creation – I’ve always been interested in science and the world around us. In high school I learned about evolution and wondered how it could have happened if the Bible said “God created”? Thankfully, the Lord had prepared a series of radio talks from scientists and Bible teachers to answer my questions. I learned about the scientific evidence for creation and that the Bible, while not a science textbook, reliably addressed scientific topics. I realized God was the Creator and had perfectly planned all the details of the universe, including me!

Logic – Since the Bible was right about history, prophecy, and science (things that people long ago could not have known or manufactured) it was supernatural and must be right about spiritual things. Therefore, when God said, “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23), that meant I was a sinner and was doomed. Thankfully, God also said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) That meant God loved me and sent Jesus to save me!

Choice – Once I knew the evidence for the Bible being trustworthy and that Jesus did live on Earth, die, and rise from the dead, I had to choose. Would I believe in Him as my Savior and Lord or would I try to be my own boss in life? Thankfully, I chose to believe in Jesus and have never regretted it.

Confirmation – Today I know Jesus is real and He is my Savior. Not just because of the evidence that led me to the decision point, but because of His work in my life. God has made the Bible alive to me, allowing me to see and understand things that I could not have comprehended on my own. I’ve seen over many years that Jesus answers prayers, not always how I want or expect, but in the way that’s best for me. I know Jesus cares for me AND you. Have you trusted Him as your Savior?
