Looking in the Window: The Mysterious Rose and Life's Ups and Downs. Giveaway.

My husband gave me a rose. I added water and the preservative that came with the flower. The next day the flower’s stem drooped, the bloom tilting toward the kitchen table. However, I was busy and didn’t throw it away.

When I walked in the room the next morning, the rose stood straight and proud in the vase. Puzzled, I leaned down and studied the flower. I checked it later that afternoon, then another time early in the evening. After five days, the rose still stood upright on its stem, its petals only aging a tiny bit around the edges. Then, the rose had my curiosity.

To learn why the rose wilted so soon then perked up, I asked several friends, who are more knowledgeable about flowers than I am. They couldn’t explain it. Finally, I called a well-known florist in Georgia. The people there had never heard of a fresh flower sagging. Maybe I wasn’t meant to understand the rose, but simply to enjoy it.

Sometimes I slump like the rose with the strength to stand tall nearly gone from me. Eventually, I give the worldly cares pressing on me to the Lord. Then he shines his love and care into my life renewing me and I rebound like the rose.

Psalm 121: 1 - 2

"I will lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth."

Psalm 28: 6 – 7

"Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.

The Lord is my strength and my shield;

my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.

My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song."

Isaiah 40: 31

"...those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint."

About Hidden Danger

 After Emily Hanover’s left standing at the altar in Blue Mountain, North Carolina, she goes to Sky High Campground to put her life back together. Because it’s February and few people come here this time of year, she’s alone on the premises. When noises in the middle of the night frighten her, she gathers her courage and peeks outside. A man carrying a body over his shoulder emerges from the dark shadows onto her front yard. Horrified, she collapses onto the floor.

The next morning, she visits ex-military officer turned security guard, Nick Lancaster. He listens intently to Emily, but dismisses her claim of foul play as a hunter carrying a deer. Finally, after he sees a freshly dug hole in Emily’s yard and finds two more in the woods, he agrees—there’s suspicious activity. Then he and Emily embark on a mission exposing murder and a far-reaching sinister plot, neither suspecting danger can bring romance.

Well, I have brown eyes and blondish hair, I’m 5’1” tall, and weigh…. Thank the Lord those tidbits aren’t what you’re looking for! My dad worked for the Veterans Administration, so the family lived in a slew of cities.
