Last spring, my daughter Kelly and I went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to do research for our new book, The Other Side of the Fairy House. Besides absorbing the vibes of the Great Smoky Mountains, we explored the real-life location where our story takes place—the former Voorheis property and estate. But in our story, you’ll find Mr. Voorheis’ name is Robert Vanderheim.

Louis Voorheis was a wealthy Yale graduate from Cincinnati in the early 1900s. He wanted a private location where he and his wife could escape the modern world. Thus, he built a rustic style mansion on a 38-acre site. We patterned our story around his life.

The site also featured a stone spring house about which many told stories of fairies and fireflies that paid visits during the winter months. Many tourists go there today, though some have trouble finding it. Fortunately, Kelly had watched a YouTube video which helped us find the spot.

Today the building houses the state fire service. As we walked in front of the building, one of the service employees walked out. A young man named Jason. He told us some fascinating tales. One was about an evening when he heard mysterious flute music coming from somewhere nearby. Perhaps from the woods. He claims the story is true.

So, when you read our Christmas tale, watch for a young man named Jason and the sound of a flute emanating from the forest. You’ll be surprised at what happens afterwards.

Madison Montgomery’s dreams come true when her boss at Cliffside Realty Group sends her to Travisburg, Tennessee, just days before Christmas to photograph their new listing, an enchanting estate originally adorned with delightful stone basins and fountains. Bio: June Foster

An award-winning author, June Foster is a retired teacher with a BA in Education and a MA in counseling. June began writing Christian romance in 2010 as she and her husband traveled the US in their RV. Her adventures provide a rich source of information for her novels. She brags about visiting a location before it becomes the setting in her next book.

To date, June has written over thirty contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels and novellas. June uses her training in counseling and her Christian beliefs in creating characters who encounter real-life difficulties yet live victorious lives. She's published with Winged Publications.

June is active in her church and her ladies' fellowship group. She enjoys writing devotionals as well as fiction. She frequently attends writers' conferences such as Blue Lake Writers' Conference and Florida Christian Writers Conference.
